Joseph Barker, PE, PTOE, Traffic Engineer, Stantec

Joseph Barker, PE, PTOE is a Traffic Engineer at Stantec in New Orleans, La. Joseph attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA to obtain his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. As a New Orleans native, it did not take long for Joseph to return to his roots and settle back down in New Orleans. As a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer with over 7 years of experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering, Joseph’s passion lies in sustainable transportation planning, urban mobility, and the promotion of active modes of transportation. Joseph envisions a future where our roads efficiently meet user demands while providing safe and convenient access for all users regardless of their mode of transportation. Joseph is also the chair of the New Orleans Chapter of Pride@Stantec, an Employee Resource Group (ERG) that strives to create a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies working to build a culture of acceptance and inclusiveness in the workplace.

Iam Tucker, President and CEO, Integrated Logistical Support, Inc., ILSI Engineering

Founded almost two decades ago, ILSI Engineering is a 100% female, minority owned, 8(a) Certified civil engineering firm that provides competent, cost effective services in the civil engineering field. ILSI Engineering specializes in sewer, water, streets, and drainage design projects, as well as Program and Construction Management.

Ms. Tucker is responsible for the day-to-day management, direction, business development and implementation of policy for all civil engineering, structural engineering and construction management activities. Since assuming the 2nd generation ownership of ILSI over 10 years ago, she has generated a commendable record of corporate achievements for herself and the company, highlighting 70+ contract awards across various state, local and federal agencies since assuming the helm of the company.

Ms. Tucker is a passionate advocate for the City of New Orleans and the people within it. She is a member of the non-partisan advocacy group African American Women of Purpose and Power.  She is a graduate of Cohort 5 of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program at Delgado Community College and an honoree in the 2013 Gambit 40 under 40 class. Ms. Tucker is an executive board member of The New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation, a cause near and dear to her heart and background as a former police officer.

As an ex Baton Rouge Police officer, Ms. Tucker was the president of her class (72nd Basic Training Academy of the Baton Rouge Police Department) and was able to gain experience working across divisions such as, BRPD-DEA task force, Bait Car Division, Mounted Patrol, DWI task force, and enjoyed the camaraderie with her peers.

Ms. Tucker was a member of Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s Transition Team Board of Advisors where she served on several task forces and is also on the board of WYES-TV, and The Industrial Development Board of the City of New Orleans, The Good Work Network, and The Greater New Orleans Inc Next Gen Board.

Some of her most notable achievements were being voted the Times-Picayune “2014 Reader’s Choice – Minority Business of the Year”.  That same article helped “The Atlantic” Publication reach out for comment twice.  As well as, Essence Magazine, to find and identify Ms. Tucker as 1 of “10 things we’re talking about” in the August 2015 Issue of Essence Magazine.  This was a 10th Anniversary of Katrina edition of Essence Magazine in which they encaptioned her “The Fixer”, for her and her firm’s work to Renew New Orleans.  She has also recently been honored by The Orchid Society for young women and girls, Voted De La Salle High School’s Alumni of the Year for 2019, and will be accepting an award from the Governor of Louisiana in March of 2019 for being one of Louisiana Economic Development’s “Louisiana Growth Leaders”.  She is a proud of these accomplishments, but nothing makes her prouder then being born, and raised and naturally New Orleans.

 

Lauren Marshall, Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Woodward Design + Build

Lauren is a construction professional with over 25 years of experience in many facets of the industry including estimating, document management, vendor solicitation, contract negotiations, small and disadvantaged business engagement and community outreach.

For the last eight years, Lauren has served as Woodward Design+Build’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion, where she works diligently to create business opportunities for local, small, disadvantaged businesses on some of the city’s largest construction development projects. Lauren serves as a liaison, confidant, and advocate to help bring DBEs in the trade community to the table, and find ways to pair their services with Woodward or other large specialty contractors in the New Orleans area. Lauren represents Woodward and helps promote their mission to engage small businesses in the community by hosting subcontractor trade meetings, participating public trade fairs, and alerting the small business community to pre-bid meetings.

Lauren’s dynamic career history includes contract management and logistics of a small, DBE janitorial services company, as well as office management and document control in a large, corporate aviation company servicing the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
